Everybody sure loves complaining around the Holidays and maybe that is because shopping for others is not that fun?
I enjoy finding gifts for others and I think these five BCS bowls will end up as gifts regardless of their final scores.
The experts have these five games all becoming borderline blowouts as Stanford is the lone team as under TD favorites.
The other four heavy favorites (UF, FSU, Bama, ORE) were all considered at some point during the season as four of the best teams in the country and Stanford is arguably the hottest team on the planet (save A&M).
The BCS bowls get their swagger bouncing on New Year’s Day at 5 p.m. eastern (ESPN) as the Stanford Cardinal (6.5 point favorite) take on the Wisconsin Badgers.
This classical Big Ten against Pac-10 (now Pac-12) matchup is always a treat and forget about how Wisconsin enters this game with the most losses in the history of the ‘grand daddy of them alls’.
This smashmouth football game is going to be legit and both teams should put on an excellent display of physicality in beautiful Pasadena.
Followed after the Rose Bowl will be the Orange Bowl, which has a ton of fans interested in witnessing whether or not the first ever MAC champions in the BCS can put up a fight over national powerhouse Florida State.
The Noles had a solid season, but it was considered a disappointing at 12-2 because many (including yours truly) had them playing in the same stadium (Sun Life) they will be playing on New Year’s.
The problem was it should have been six days later because their talented was anticipated to sky rocket into a 14-0 squad that would have exactly where the Irish were.
FSU still has some ways to go despite being labeled as early 14-point favorites before becoming legit BCS title contenders and Northern Illinois could do more than just hang around for a half.
The following night we have Florida and Louisville in the Sugar Bowl where Charlie Strong will have a reunion per se with his former Gators.
The game may not be a close one though as UF enters the game as heavy favorites (16.5-point favorites) against a Big East squad that barely finished their season in the top 25, and we know the Gator fanbase wants them to pile it on to prove they are the best team in America.
The next night (Jan.3) will be the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl as the high-flying Oregon Ducks take on a Kansas State team has quietly flown under the radar after getting blown out by Baylor just three weeks ago.
The Ducks are electric and sexy with the speed they have, but Kansas State has proven to slow some decent offenses down. The one main problem was the speed they saw in the Baylor Bears, who torched them for over 500 yards of offense.
Oregon is a lot better, and K-State will need to put together their best game of the season to keep this one closer than the experts believe (ORE by 7.5).
Last but not least is the BCS National Championship between Notre Dame and Alabama, and everybody wants to know how the Irish stand a realistic chance?
Well, Alabama has opened up as 9.5-point favorites and it will be a tough challenge for Heisman candidate Manti Te’o and a program that maybe has never seen quite the offensive line that the Crimson Tide possess.
These five bowl games are borderline blowouts according to the experts, but the entertainment is never a letdown and the games seem to be much closer than expected.
One thing is for sure, the games will be watched by millions and the BCS National Championship could not have asked for anything more.
